I Told My Boss I Have ADHD - Is ADHD an Excuse?
Просмотров 16 тыс.Год назад
Are you one of those that think ADHD is fake and an excuse? There's more to it than you know, especially if you're not a psychologist or if you base your opinions on stubborn, traditionalist bandwagon thinking. Not everyone with ADHD is out to cause trouble, and many are good people with good intentions who suffer very real, troublesome symptoms that interfere with their ability to function in ...

boosting metabolism while exercising on empty stomach? Are there some backed scientific data on this statement? As I know calories restriction/movement on empty stomach actually get the body into survival state and slowing down the metabolism. Please don't consider my comment as some sort of attack. I am just writing out of curiosity and wondering if there is sth I don't know yet- if so, I'd like to broad my knowledge in this particular case. Thanks.

I've just turned 35 and finally have my adhd assessment on Friday. I'm nervous. I'm worried and feel so lost. I'm aways making others family/friends smile and laugh. If I'm honest i feel like a failure yet I'm always starting and quitting. My head is honestly up my ass.

Was just given strattera for ADHD, after I give my Dr my childhood medical records with my diagnosis to him then will try other medications. I'm eager to find out how this all affects me, I'm miserable, I would prefer quicker results and am scared about the side effects of strattgera.

Yessss!! That's it! The final piece of the puzzle has fallen into place, thank you so much! Throughout my childhood and as early as 6 years old, I had this constant nagging feeling of hopeless sadness. It was as if the world was painted gray and nothing could give me joy. I was also permanently suicidal, my first suicide attempt as early as 8 years old. The slightest childish blunder on my part would throw me into total despair, making me think I was the worst person that ever lived. And I grew up in the most loving and gentle family! This feeling of "grayness" has never quite left me. What a relief, thank you so much!

WTF?!? 0:33 to 2:58 is extremely relatable to me, I think I feel the same kind of drowsiness and laidback-ness when I'm on ciders and beer(hate it). But as soon as I touch hard liquor I feel energy overwhelm me(not always), like I'll switch between 4 different things in a short timespan. It almost feels like those things aren't as annoying to do, I'll clean, do my work, laundry, go on a phone call/social media.... Just things(I'm doing 3/4 of those rn, with some cheap vodka). I've never even attempted to get diagnosed.

I am going to go get diagnosed next week and I think I may have it for sure.

Don't tell me what to do. I'm not lazy; I'm just saving my energy for an emergency. It took me six months to fix that hole-yes, six months, and the hole is fixed right. You want to make a to-do list for when we go on vacation? My wife woke up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. The next day, she told me she thought she fell asleep for ten seconds while she was peeing. When I get up in the middle of the night to pee, I've already had two conversations with myself and three scenarios about how my day will be in the morning. Going to the bathroom takes less than a minute, and yes, I always feel like I'm the weirdo at work.

I had people that convinced me they were my friends, but would talk about me like i was stupid because i would sucker up to their ego to not give them the impression that im judging them or i dont appreciate their presence. Lime i had "friend" show me a fake ghost video, but he would talk to me like "this is so convincing, dont you believe this"? "Wow this is such compelling evidence" even though i know it was fake, i didnt want him to feel stupid, so i played along. Turns out, he was being manipulative and toying with my impressionable mind. He still lives at home with mommy and daddy and is unemployed. My adhd is untreated and ive been able to maintain a full time job with overtime, my own car, and my own apartment with no roommates to share with. I put him to shame to say the least😊

I was severely traumatized years ago as a teenage, got addicted to cigarettes and alcohol. Spent my whole life fighting Cigarettes and alcohol addiction. Got diagnosed with ADHD. I suffered severe depression and mental disorder. Not until my wife recommended me to psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment saved my life honestly. 8 years totally clean. Never thought I would be saying this about mushrooms.

100% agree I used to have Psychosis and paranoid thoughts like "people thinking about me talking about me etc. Very odd behavior after getting off Adderall from 7-16. Antidepressants at 18-29. 31 now. I took way to much, but took about 20g of Gold caps (Psilocybin containing mushroom) I analyzed my entire life. The emotions that came out helped me understand behavior etc more. Wont ever need to do it again because I'm happy and contempt forever, but I wish more people did this to alter their perception of reality. Would help with healing much trauma

I'm on Strattera for 4 weeks now. My ADHD is kinda combination of both types, with the inattentive type a bit more prominent. I got some mild effects as decreased apetite and dry mouth, which for me are actually positive, because I struggle to drink enough water during the day (some days all my liquid intake was a morning cappuccino), now I am thirsty all the time and I am able to drink at least 1l of water a day. Also the decreased apetite is somewhat beneficial, because I had random cravings for sweet food during the day, which now ceased. Also it somehow increased my libido, which was previously taken down by hormonal IUD, so that's also positive. I feel that it helped me to deal with the hyperactive side of my ADHD. Like I don't need to scroll on my phone while watching videos / attending a lecture... I am able to do just one thing. I feel calmer and I don't struggle with chores as much as I used to. But when it comes to the inattentive symptoms... nope, I don't feel any change. I was lucky enough to get combined medications, I got a prescription to Ritalin as a supportive medication. That helps me a lot to get trough long tasks, such as studying (and not postponing ot until the last moment). But I use it as a last resort, because I'm afraid of building a tolerance. Now half a pill gets me to overcome the initial aversion to study and one pill is enough to keep me glued to textbooks for as long as I need (basically a cheatcode to use hyperfocus at my request).

I'm sorry, I don't think you should be making videos that say ADHD medication is not effective. That is your experience. Most people have great success managing their ADHD lives with the correct medical intervention.
